Book Review: Nearing Home

Title: Nearing Home
Author: Billy Graham
Subtitle: Life, Faith and Finishing Well
Genre: Christian Living, Inspirational

I can't tell you how excited I was to receive this book in the mail to review.  I had just returned from a trip down south where I had the opportunity to visit the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina.   It was an amazing experience!  If you are ever in that area, you need to make a stop there.  It is completely free and totally inspirational!

Back to the book... Billy Graham wrote this book when he was 92 years old.  He is now 94 years old and working on what may be his final written work.  I have read many of his earlier works and the evangelist in him shines through in his writing.  This book is different, it reads more like a casual conversation with Billy Graham.

In this book, Billy Graham shares his feeling about growing old and his time here on earth ending.  He looks forward to seeing his beloved wife, Ruth, again in Heaven.  He eagerly anticipates meeting his Lord in Heaven.

Billy Graham reflects on his life and shares his wisdom with us.    One may look at the book and initially think that the book is just for senior citizens.  That is not true; none of us know when the end of our life will so preparing for the end is something we all need to do.  We should all want to "finish well."

I am standing in front of Billy Graham's childhood home.

I would recommend this book to everyone.  For a Christian reader, you will be inspired to live your life for Christ.  If you read this book as an unbeliever, there are many opportunities to read the Gospel message and accept Jesus Christ as Savior.

This book would be especially helpful to a Senior Bible study.  At my church, we have a senior citizen Bible study group that meets.  Last year, they chose "Nearing Home" as their study material.  The feedback was all positive,  They truly enjoyed the study and felt inspired by Reverend Graham's words.
